Klement Backpacking & Ministry 2012 Itinerary

by Ephraim Arriesgado

Our batch, Klement '09, have chosen the theme, "11 Days, 2 Countries, 1 Mission" in this year's edition of Klement Backpacking and Ministry.

We were on the road for 11 days-- from July 23 to August 2, 2012. We explored 2 beautiful countries-- Thailand and Cambodia. And we had just 1 mission-- to share the love of Jesus Christ to the people of these countries and to minister to the needs of the children at Wat Preah Yesu Orphanage in Siem Reap, Cambodia.

On The Road for Almost 4 Weeks

by Ephraim Arriesgado

Dear beloved readers,

I have been on the road for almost four weeks now.

I started my journey on board the boat from Ormoc City, Leyte to Cebu City on July 19, 2012. I flew from Cebu to Clark, Pampanga on the 20th (my first time to fly, actually). Then from Clark to Bangkok, Thailand on the 21st (my first international flight). First times are sweet times, I should say.

The arrival in Bangkok, Thailand.

Special Feature: A Ministry to the World's Big Cities

by Ephraim Arriesgado

(I have written this post after reading the article of Ted N. C. Wilson entitled “Big Cities-Bigger Vision” in the October 2011 issue of the Adventist World . Ted N. C. Wilson is the president of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. I will be quoting some of his words in this post.)

We all know that today many people are living and working in the cities, especially in the major cities of the world. They need to be reached in order for them to know the gospel which is the good news of salvation.

Special Feature: “Christ’s Method”, Our Example

by Ephraim Arriesgado

(This post was written after I read the article of Gary Krause entitled “With Loving Arms” in the October 2011 issue of the Adventist WorldGary Krause is the Director of the Office of Adventist Mission.)

Ellen G. White, the messenger of God, wrote that, “The Lord has been calling our attention to the neglected multitudes in the large cities, yet little regard has been given to the matter” (Advent Review and Sabbath Herald, Nov. 11, 1909).

This statement reminds us of our higher calling to have our ministry focused in the cities of the world. This is what Ellen White termed “urban ministry”.

Their smiles inspire us to serve!

Spiritual Reflections About Cambodia

by Cheryl Derequito

As superintendent of today's Sabbath School, I decided to show the video about WAT PREAH YESU in place of the Mission Story. Before showing the video, I shared a little about the history & present condition of Cambodia. After the video, I shared these five imperative spiritual thoughts that I pondered upon while I was in Cambodia. I, along with some people at the audience, weren’t able to contain our tears. After sharing these, two of the missionaries came & asked for more information & contact details of WAT PREAH YESU. I’m glad I wasn’t the only one whose heart God has touched & blessed.

Klement Way Of Praising God:We are United

by Franz Calipusan

Amidst the hardships of earning money now a days combined with the extreme difficulty of giving up your time for others, the Klement backpackers still pursue their passion of service to their fellow children of God, and for that cause they felt very rewarded. For the reason that the combination of  backpacking and ministry activity is a brilliant thing. The participants can enjoy and learn more from the low-cost travel style and aside from that they have this goal to share God's love to others along the way.
